The Noank Rowing Club has been offering rowing classes for beginning through advanced rowers in Beebe cove for years, but until recently, it offered programs for all of those levels of rowers in the same beginners' boats. This summer, that will no longer be the case.Dinosaur Fossil Replica Landscape-Triceratops Skeleton. The club recently acquired two Olympic-quality boats to which the club's members now have access. These four-person sculling shells allow members to now get the feel of the highest quality of boat available today.
The boats were purchased from two different crew organizations in Boston and Narragansett, R.I. Recognizable by their yellow color, these shells are built using fiberglass and wood and are designed to cut through the water more quickly than the club's older boats, Dinosaur Skeleton Exhibition-T-Rex Fossil, many of which are designed for stability rather than speed. Not only are the new boats the fastest shells the club offers; they are also the best quality.
"These shells are Olympic quality and are built to be long lasting," said rowing instructor Kristen Negaard O'Brien. The boats also create new opportunities for the club. In past years, the club has used its old shells while competing in the Coast Weeks Regatta. This is a race at Mystic Seaport to which the club has only sent junior rowers in the past.
